Pianist Andreas Ehret who was born in Heidelberg Germany in 1967, belongs to the promising younger generation of virtuous pianists of these days. Especially in his adopted country South Korea, where he lives and has been a professor of piano at Hoseo University Cheonan since 1997, he widely gained critical acclaim for his performances and pedagogical achievements.
When studying in the prodigy class of Prof. Friedrich Schery, the last Emil v. Sauer pupil, Andreas Ehret got already the chance to start an extensive concert career in his early days. He later was accepted to the master classes of Prof. David Levine and Roberto Szidon at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf where he has finished his concert diploma with distinguished honors. In addition renowned professors such as Marta Sosinska, Karl Heinz Kämmerling, Klaus Hellwig and Jacob Lateiner have exerted important influence on the pianists artistic development.
Mr. Ehret has been able to strengthen his pianistic career by appearing at numerous music festivals particularly in Europe, USA, Middle and East Asia including the Tibor Varga Festival in Sion, Swiss, the Ratinger Bachtage, the Mendelssohn Musikfest in Cologne, the Altstadtherbst Festival in Düsseldorf, The International Piano Summer in Kleve, The Westfalen Classics Festival in Warstein, The Summer Festival of Rehovot Israel, The Festival of Asian Contemporary Music South Korea, the First Gyongi Music Festival and the AIPAF Festival in South Korea and many others.
Andreas Ehret has given recitals and has performed with major orchestras including the Gürzenich Orchester Cologne, the Westfälische Sinfonieorchester, the Düsseldorf Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mainzer Kammerorchester, the Heidelberg Sinfoniker or the Seoul Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductors as David Shallon, Mario Venzago, Thomas Fey, Johannes Kalitzke or Volker Hartung at venues such as the Kölner Philharmonie, the Bremer Glocke, the Musikhalle Hamburg, the Sejong Culture Center or the Seoul Arts Center.
Besides a conventional repertoire, which spans compositions from Bach to Zimmermann, the pianist endeavors to comprise the research, collection and performances of nearly forgotten music for piano and piano chamber music. To date, he has built up an impressive digital archive of more than 50,000 compositions. In his solo programs Mr. Ehret often attempts to combine famous works of music with those that are little or completely unknown to the audience.
In addition to his artistic life the training and education of the new generation of aspiring young pianists has been also of particular importance for this German musician. Some of his students are already successful laureates of International competitions and having started up their own pianistic career. Furthermore Andreas Ehret is frequently invited to share his wide experiences in public master classes throughout Europe, US and Asia.
Andreas Ehret is often invited as Jury member of Korean national and International competitions in Italy, Germany, South Korea and other countries.
